New Delhi, 13 January (H.S.): Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Monday described Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's comments on the Indian parliamentary elections to be held in 2024 as disappointing and factually incorrect.
Zuckerberg has claimed that most of the incumbent governments, including India, have lost the 2024 elections after Corona.
On Monday, Ashwini Vaishnav said in a post on X that as the world's largest democracy, India contested the 2024 elections with over 640 million voters. The people of India have expressed their faith in the NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Zuckerberg's claim that most of the incumbent governments, including India, lost the 2024 elections after Corona is factually incorrect.
He said that from free food for 800 million people, 2.2 billion free vaccines, and assistance to countries around the world during Corona, to leading India as the fastest-growing major economy, Prime Minister Modi's decisive third term victory is a testament to good governance and public trust.
It is extremely disappointing that Meta CEO Zuckerberg himself gave misinformation. The credibility of the facts should have been maintained.
It is worth noting that on January 10, Joe Rogan published a two-hour podcast with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, where he discussed a number of topics including content moderation, trust in governments, Corona, government influence and others. During the discussion, Zuckerberg said that due to Corona, the current Modi government in India did not get an absolute majority in the elections to be held in 2024.
Analyzing the lack of trust among people globally due to the steps taken by governments to deal with the Corona epidemic, Zuckerberg pointed out that there is dissatisfaction among people around the world due to pandemic-related policies and inconsistent governance. According to him, this discontent has affected the election results in many countries.
