- Integrated State Board formed, Ramesh Chandra Jain appointed as Chairman

Guwahati, 8 September (HS): The Assam government has merged the Assam Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). A formal notification to this effect was issued on Sunday by the Education Department of the State Government. It is noteworthy that this merger was announced two months ago by the Chief Minister after a resolution was passed in this regard in the Assam Cabinet meeting. The government has constituted the Integrated Assam State School Education Board.

In the official notification issued by the Governor of Assam, Ramesh Chandra Jain, IAS (Retd.) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Assam State School Education Board for three years or up to the age of 70 years (whichever is less).

Thus Jain has been relieved of the charge of Chairman of the School Education Board of Assam (SEBA) with immediate effect. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the new board will consolidate school education in accordance with the needs of the 21st century. The Chief Minister shares information to this effect today through social media.
