Thane, 28 Sep (HS):- About 63,000 tribal villages in
the country, including 4,975 in Maharashtra will be developed under the Pradhan
Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan of the Government of India. Following
clearance of the mission by the union cabinet the work on the programme is
expected to begin soon.
Finance
Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the scheme during the budget session,
which was cleared during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra
Modi. Twenty-five different programmes will be implemented under the project,
including developing basic infrastructure, health, education, removing gap in
earning livelihood etc.
In
the 32 districts of Maharashtra, 12,87,702 tribals will be benefited under the
project. The concerned ministries have been directed to plan for phase-wise
implementation of the programme. The details of the villages, implementation of
programmes, development achieved etc will be uploaded on the portal and
evaluated by the authorities assigned.
The
projects include cement concrete houses, road connectivity, tap water at every
house, electric supply, mobile health units, Ayushyaman Card, LPG connection,
multipurpose marketing centres, facilities at Ashramshalas, centres for sickle
cell and anaemia etc.
