Sept 25 (HS): Shivam Rajput, lodged in Dasna district jail on charges of raping

a minor girl, committed suicide by hanging himself with an electric wire.

Shivam Rajput, a resident of Narsena village of Bulandshahr district, was in

jail about 14 days ago in a case of raping a girl and under the POCSO Act.

Before dying, the young man has left a suicide note, in which he has blamed

girl's parents as the reason for committing suicide. He has also apologized to

her in the suicide note.The body of

21-year-old Shivam has been sent for postmortem. According to Jail

Superintendent Sitaram Sharma, Shivam Rajput was a resident of Narsaina police

station area in Bulandshahr district. On September 10, 2024, Pilkhuwa police

station of Hapur district sent him to jail on charges of rape and POCSO Act.

Police

said that around 10 pm on Tuesday night, Shivam hanged himself from a fan with

the help of a cable inside the electricity office adjacent to the library area.

By the time the jail staff noticed him, he was dead. The body was brought down

after videography was done. The local police was called. Police investigation

revealed that last month, Shivam Rajput (22) had seduced a minor girl. Police

recovered the girl and arrested Shivam. The girl's statements revealed that she

had been raped. After this, Pilkhuwa police station sent him to jail on September

10. Before dying, Shivam left a two-page suicide note. Due to not being much

educated, Shivam has not written the language clearly. In this, Shivam has

blamed the girl's parents for sending him to jail. In the suicide note, he has

addressed both of them as mother-in-law and father-in-law. At the end of the

suicide note, Shivam has also apologized to the girl.
