New Delhi, September 19 (HS): The fifth three-day 'River Festival' is starting this evening at the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA) in the national capital Delhi. Apart from discussions, this festival organized under the aegis of National Cultural Mapping Mission (NMCM) and Janpad Sampada Division will have film screening on the story of rivers. A unique picture exhibition will be organized on boat construction. This festival will be inaugurated by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

In a press conference organized on the eve of the river festival, the head of the Janpad Sampada Division of IGNCA, Prof. Anil Kumar said that former Sarpanch of Harsil, Uttarakhand, Basant Negi and head of Parmarth Niketan Rishikesh and spiritual guru Swami Chidananda Saraswati will be present as the chief guests in the program.

Three types of exhibitions will be organized in the 'River Festival'. The first will be a picture exhibition on the Kangsabati river and its culture. The second will be a photo exhibition related to the construction of the boat and the third will be paintings by school children of Delhi. Cultural programs will be organized in the evening on all three days. Vikram Bhandral will give a special presentation of Himachali folk songs. It is noteworthy that the river festival is the idea of ​​​​Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi. The first 'River Festival' was held in 2018. It was inaugurated in Nashik city of Maharashtra, located on the banks of Godavari river. The second 'River Festival' was organized in Vijayawada city of Andhra Pradesh, located on the banks of Krishna river and the third 'River Festival' was organized in Munger city of Bihar, located on the banks of river Ganges. The fourth 'River Festival' was organized in Delhi.
