New Delhi, 26 July (HS): On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today paid tribute to the immortal soldiers of the Indian Army by saluting them. The BJP has said that the soldiers made the supreme sacrifice for the honour of Mother India and the pride of the tricolour.

The BJP has written on its X handle, Humble tribute to the immortal martyrs of the Kargil war who kept the honour of Mother India and the pride of the tricolour intact with their indomitable courage and bravery, and salute to the brave soldiers. It is noteworthy that the Indian Army defeated Pakistan in the Kargil War and won on July 26, 1999. This war was fought for about two months. Initially, it was considered an infiltration by Pakistan, but after a search operation in the Line of Control, Pakistan's planned strategy was revealed. The Indian Army realised that the attack was planned on a large scale. After this, the Indian government launched 'Operation Vijay' and sent troops to the Kargil region. This war demonstrated the unwavering determination and indomitable spirit of the Indian armed forces. The Kargil War is a proof of Pakistan's wrong intentions.

The then Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, taught Pakistan a lesson and made the whole world realise India's valour and strength. At the same time, the superpowers who were sympathising with Pakistan were given such a befitting reply in a blunt tone that they were left speechless. India also lost many of its brave warriors in this war, and their supreme sacrifice became an example for the country.
