Three SI accused of public assault reserve closed


Guwahati, 26 June (HS): Three Police Sub-Inspectors and one LC posted at Basishta police station of Guwahati have been reserve closed on charges of assaulting locals at Basishta Ashram.

It is noteworthy that the drunk police officers had broken both the legs of a youth named Bijay Nath. They had also broken the finger of a youth named Ratul Nath. The policemen had also assaulted a woman named Reena Khakhlari who was present at the scene.

In connection with this incident, the Guwahati Police Commissioner had summoned these three SIs (probation) of Basishta Police Station, Parag Jyoti Barman, Tirtha Deka, Dhyanjyoti Tamuli and LC Kalpjyoti Neog. The Police Commissioner investigated the entire matter. After all were found guilty, they were sent to police line.
