Tamulpur (Assam), 26 June (HS). A student died on the spot in an attack by a wild elephant on Indo-Bhutan border in Tamulpur district.

Police said on Wednesday that Manika Bodo, a student studying in class IX, died on the spot in an attack by a wild elephant in Bagajuli area of the Indo-Bhutan border. While, other members of the family somehow managed to save their lives and run away.

Manika, along with other family members, ran out of the house to escape from the wild elephant, during which the deceased came under the grip of the elephant. The elephant crushed her to death.

As soon as the news of the incident was received, the police team rushed the spot and sent the body of the deceased student to the hospital for post-mortem. Police are investigating the matter by registering an FIR in this regard.
