Guwahati, 24 April (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that now Bihu festival in Assam is being celebrated not with the sound of guns and bombs but with the sweet voice of the cuckoo.

Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, today members of extremist organizations of Assam have returned to the mainstream. There was a time when there used to be dissatisfaction among all the castes and tribes, from Bodo to Karbi. The sounds of bomb were heard everywhere. There were bandhs, strikes, demonstrations, agitations etc. every day. But, today peace has been established in the state and the path of development has been paved, he added.

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister was attending election meetings at several places in the state on the last day of campaigning for the second phase.

He said that during the days of the BJP government, many bridges were built on Brahmaputra. IIT was established in Guwahati. Development was a continuous process. Many programs ranging from Arunodaya to Vasundhara for public welfare were run. He said that the people of the state have seen how the country is developing under the leadership of Narendra Modi. Today, India is going to become a world leader. The respect of Indians has increased all over the world. This is the reason why today people are attracted towards the BJP and are gearing up to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister for the third time.

The Chief Minister said that after the first phase of elections, he had said that the victory of the BJP candidate on all the five seats in the first phase is certain. But, based on the enthusiasm he saw among the people during the second phase of election campaign, today he says with confidence that BJP candidates will have a huge victory in the second phase of voting also.

During this, the Chief Minister discussed various schemes being run by the Central and State Governments. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Bhuvneshwar Kalita and many MLAs, party candidates and senior leaders and workers were present in the programs along with the Chief Minister today.
