2 smugglers arrested with 1.80 kg heroin in Cachar


Cachar (Assam), 05 May (HS): Cachar Police said on Sunday that Lakhipur and Dhalai police recovered a huge quantity of heroin during a raid and seized a total of 1.8 kg of heroin worth ₹9.5 crore from two different locations and arrest two peddlers.

According to the police, while checking the naka, Dhalai police seized 74 soap boxes filled with heroin from the oil tank of a Bolero. A total of 1.036 grams of heroin was seized from the box and the smuggler named Rajibul Islam Laskar was arrested. Police said the suppliers were planning to transport the heroin from neighboring Manipur to the outer state via Cachar.

Meanwhile, the police have also seized a huge quantity of heroin from Palerbanda in Lakhipur. Banskandi police, led by Lakhipur SDPO Partha Pratim Duvra, raided a bike and seized 55 soap boxes filled with heroin.

A total of 700 grams of heroin was seized from the box. The value of the seized heroin is estimated to be several crores of rupees. It is noteworthy that the police arrested a smuggler named Shamim Laskar on charges of drug smuggling.
