Annual Abhishek performed at Vindhyavasini temple

Mirzapur, 24 April (HS): As per the tradition going on since time immemorial, on the Pratipada date of Vaishakh Krishna Paksha, the annual Ghata Abhishek was performed at Vindhyavasini temple on Wednesday.

The entire community washed the temple premises with Ganga water. Devotees offered Ganga water at the feet of Maa Vindhyavasini. After the Ghata Abhishek, the Dham complex reverberated with the sound of bells, gongs, drums, shehnai, conch and the chanting of the hymns. Amidst the scorching sun, the devotees reached Pakka Ghat barefoot with pots made of brass, steel and clay.

The devotees took a dip in the Ganga, filled earthen pots and various water vessels with Ganga water, chanted Mother's name, Om, Swastika and wrote various mantras. Displaying unwavering faith and belief, Ganga water was carried to the temple in the pots and the temple premises were washed, to free thee society from evil spirits.

Reached the court of Kalava Dham Maa Vindhyavasini, devotees performed Jalabhishek. This process continued from 10 am to 12 noon.

Everyone was engaged in washing the Vindhyavasini temple with devotion. During the washing of the temple, the doors of the sanctum sanctorum of Mother Vindhyavasini Devi and other deities were closed.

After washing, all the deities including Vindhyavasini temple were decorated, worshiped and grand aarti was performed. After this, the door was opened for the visitors. After washing the temple, the devotees took the pitcher home. Since ancient times, after offering water from an earthen pot, people take it to their homes and make the whole family drink the water from that pot.

It is believed that people remain healthy by drinking water from this pitcher. All types of diseases are cured and there is no mother's wrath in the family. Mother's blessings remain on the entire family.

A procession will be taken out at night. The Gods and Goddesses present at various places will be worshipped. After this, the procession will reach near Tokia on the south side of Amravati, where after the worship, everyone will return after remembering Mother Vindhyavasini.
