Another petition filed in Supreme Court regarding electoral bonds

New Delhi, 24 April (HS): Another petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding electoral bonds. The petition has demanded that the donations given in the form of electoral bonds should be investigated by the SIT under the supervision of the court.

The petition has been filed by lawyer Prashant Bhushan on behalf of Common Cause and Center for Public Interest Litigation. It has been said in the petition that the alleged quid pro quo arrangement between corporates and political parties through electoral bonds should be investigated. It was said in the petition that a scam worth crores of rupees has been committed in the electoral bonds case, which can be exposed only through an independent investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

It is noteworthy that on February 15, the Supreme Court had declared electoral bonds unconstitutional. On March 21, State Bank of India had made available complete information about electoral bonds.
