Stale Food Scare at KGBV: 11 Girls Fall Ill, 3 Hospitalized

Hyderabad, 20 April (H.S): Eleven female students from a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Narsapur mandal centre became unwell after consuming stale food at their hostel. According to media reports, the students complained of stomachache and diarrhoea after eating dinner at 10 pm.

Three students were admitted to a hospital in Nirmal while seven were sent home at the request of their parents. This is the second occurrence of such an incident at the institution within three weeks. Earlier, on April 3, 25 students fell ill after consuming spoiled food during breakfast. As a result, the special officer Sunitha, head cook Padma, and accountant were suspended.

The state government was criticized for its negligence in the matter, especially after the recent death of a student at a Bhuvanagiri Gurukul hostel due to food poisoning. Harish Rao slammed the government for its careless attitude towards Gurukul schools in Telangana and demanded immediate action to provide better treatment for the affected students and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. These incidents highlight the need for stricter measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions.
