Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Leads First-Ever National Conference for GST Enforcement Chiefs


Delhi, 4 March (H.S): union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the first-ever National Conference of Enforcement Chiefs of the State and the Central GST Formations, in New Delhi, today.

The conference provided one more step towards facilitating understanding and streamlining operations of the tax authorities in enforcement actions undertaken by different indirect tax authorities. The conference saw the presence of union Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, Secretary of Department of Revenue Shri Sanjay Malhotra, and other senior officers from various government departments.

In her address, the union Finance Minister praised the efforts made by both Centre and State GST formations since 2017 in making the GST a reliable and efficient system through the use of technology. She also stressed on the importance of regularly holding such conferences to discuss challenges, share best practices, and advance towards a more robust tax infrastructure. The minister urged all GST formations to leverage technology to provide better taxpayer services and ensure seamless coordination across states in the interest of the nation.
