Nitin Gadkari (File Photo)Nagpur, March 28 (HS): Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari says, If you take up any work, definitely complete it. After this, forget it. It is the job of the public and the media to evaluate your work.''

After the sounding of the Lok Sabha election bugle, Gadkari's activity has doubled in his home district Nagpur. Taking out time from his busy schedule, he made this comment in a special conversation with Hindusthan Samachar when asked about his working style.

Before entering central politics, Gadkari was the President of BJP from 2009 to 2013. Before this, he had served as PWD Minister in Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999. His work is considered a milestone. But Gadkari has a slightly different opinion regarding his work. Gadkari said that people spend their entire lives running after money, position and prestige. All these things are temporary. A person's nature and work are his real identity.

Politicians should never have any illusions about themselves. It is the responsibility of the public and media to evaluate the work of leaders.

Constitution soul of the country

Gadkari said that he has always worked beyond politics. BJP has taught him to do justice to everyone. There should be no politics in development work, otherwise it will become a mess. On the discussion on changing the Constitution going on in social media, Gadkari said that Dr. Ambedkar's Constitution is our respect.

Establishing equality in society is the firm belief of our life. There is no question of changing the Constitution. Those who broke the Constitution by imposing emergency in the country, spread false propaganda about us. It is said that BJP will abolish the Constitution and abolish reservation. Gadkari said that Congress cannot attract the people towards itself. Therefore, it works to confuse the public in the name of reservation and Constitution.

A person's identity is determined by work

Gadkari said that a person is not great because of his caste, creed, language, gender and party, he is great because of his actions and quality. No one has a patent on good works. Therefore I could do work worth ₹50 lakh crore with honesty. No one can accuse me of corruption. If someone says that I have to pay money to work, I will leave politics. I am ready for it. In politics, people's love and trust is the biggest asset.

Limits on rights

Gadkari, who is generally positive, seemed quite angry with the behavior of government officials. He said that the limit of officers should be fixed. The Forest Conservation Act of 1980 has given excessive powers to the officials. Giving the example of Uttarakhand, Gadkari said that works worth ₹10,000 crore are stuck in the state due to non-availability of NOC from the Forest and Environment Department. If the concerned officials had not shirked their responsibility, this development work would have taken shape by now. Therefore, it is very important to take care of the environment, but there is a need to change the outdated and harsh laws.

Good intention of electoral bond

Union Minister Gadkari expressed his opinion on electoral bonds which have become a topic of discussion in the country. He said that no party runs without money. In some countries, governments fund political parties. There is no such system in our country. So we brought the Electoral Bond Scheme in 2017 with good intentions. The main objective behind introducing electoral bonds was that political parties should receive funds directly, but the names (of the donors) would not be disclosed. The reason for this was that if the party in power changed, problems would arise. Gadkari said that we brought this system of electoral bonds to bring transparency. Our intentions were good. If the Supreme Court finds any deficiency in it and asks us to improve it, then all the parties will sit together and consider it unanimously.

Nitin Gadkari, who started his political career as a general worker of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, is called the companion of happiness and sorrow of Nagpur. Gadkari considers Nagpur as his home and not his parliamentary constituency. As a result, in times of natural disasters and epidemics like Corona, Gadkari did everything that a member does for his family. This is the reason why the public also considers him as their own. As a result, Gadkari seems confident about his victory.
