New Delhi, 4 December (H.S.):
The Delhi High Court has issued notices to several AAP leaders, including former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS leader K Kavitha, on the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) plea challenging a trial court's order to supply unrelied documents to the accused in the alleged money laundering case related to the excise policy.
Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri has listed the matter for further hearing on January 30 next year. The ED has also requested for a stay in the case. The trial court had earlier directed the ED to provide the chargesheet and digitised records of unrelied documents to the accused in November.
The ED's counsel argued that only a list of unrelied upon documents should be given at this stage, in accordance with the apex court's direction.
The case before the trial court is scheduled for December 21. The CBI and ED have alleged irregularities and corruption in the implementation of the excise policy, which was implemented by the Delhi government in November 2021 and scrapped by September 2022.
The money laundering case was initiated after Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena ordered a probe into the matter.
