New Delhi, 04 December (HS): The Indian Aerospace Medicine Society (ISAM) is organizing its 63rd Annual Conference from December 5-7, at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM), Bengaluru. More than a hundred scientific papers will be presented in the conference.

The aim of this conference is to shape the future of aerospace medical research and policy in the country. This institute deals with military and civilian aerospace medicine, including the humanitarian aspects of the country's space flight program.

The Indian Aerospace Medicine Society was established in the year 1952, registered to promote the knowledge and practice of aerospace medicine in India. With the aim of advancing research and finding solutions to aeromedical challenges, this society has been organizing annual scientific conferences since the year 1954. The theme of this conference is 'Collaboration for Research', which highlights a visionary approach to promote partnerships and innovations in the fields of aviation and space medicine. This collaboration emphasizes the critical need for interdisciplinary collaboration and collective problem solving to advance meaningful research and development in the field of aerospace medicine.

Wing Commander Jaideep Singh said that the conference will be inaugurated by Air Marshal SP Dharkar, Deputy Chief of the Air Force on 05 December. The conference will be attended by about 300 professional participants from the country and around the world, including eminent aerospace medicine from military and civil aviation in a hybrid format. These also include researchers from allied institutions including eminent members of DRDO laboratories and ISRO scientists. The conference will be keynote address by Dr. VR Lalitambika, former Director of Directorate of Human Space Programs (DHSP) ISRO and currently Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Madras, for the Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee Memorial.

Another important lecture will include Wing Commander Karthik Kalyanram (Retd) from Rishi Valley Rural Health Centre who will deliver the prestigious Air Vice Marshal MM Shrinagesh Memorial Oration on December 06. In addition to the Jamie Harmusji Framji Manekshaw panel, Dr SL Vaya, Project Head, Shanmugha Academy of Arts, Science, Technology and Research (SASTRA), National Defence University and Dr Hanumanthrai Balurgi, Director, DHSP, ISRO will be giving guest lectures.
