Ghazipur,

4 December (H.S.): Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who had set out to go to Sambhal,

was stopped by the police at the Ghazipur border. He is also accompanied by

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and many other Congress leaders. Heavy police force is

deployed here since morning.

The Congress leaders stayed on the road for a long

time to regain their composure. Meanwhile, Congress leaders also talked to the

police officers, but nothing happened. Rahul Gandhi, who came out with Priyanka

Gandhi Vadra, told the police that I am ready to go alone in your car, but I

should be allowed to go with caution. Rahul Gandhi has also talked to the DGP.

Despite this the DGP refused to let him go. His convoy is stopped at the

Ghazipur border. Along with Rahul Gandhi, big leaders like State Congress

President Ajay Rai, Imran Masood, Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Avinash

Pandey etc. are present. A plan was given by the Congress to allow the five-member

delegation to recover.

It was said that Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, KC

Venugopal, Avinash Pandey and Ajay Rai would be included in this delegation.

This also did not get approval from the police administration. After this,

Rahul Gandhi requested the administration to let him handle things alone.

However, the police administration has not yet given permission for this.

Uttar

Pradesh Congress in-charge Avinash Pandey said that Rahul Gandhi talked to

police officials. He told the police to sit in his car and be careful. However,

their demand has not been accepted by the police yet. Meanwhile, Ghazipur

border is jammed for an hour.

A large number of people are facing problems on

the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Barricading has been installed by the police on the

Ghazipur border to stop the convoy. Many times there were heated exchanges

between Congress workers and the police to allow the convoy to move ahead.

Police personnel have lined up behind the barricades in front of Rahul Gandhi's

convoy. Purnia MP Pappu Yadav has also reached Ghazipur border in support of

Rahul Gandhi.

Congress workers got angry after police personnel stopped the

convoy at Ghazipur border. They climbed the barricades and started protesting.

They kept demanding the police officers to remove the barricades and allow the

convoy to proceed. Congress leaders said that if everything is fine in Sambhal

then why is there police guarding the border? Why are we being stopped? However,

Rahul Gandhi is adamant on going ahead with his proposed visit.

Congress

MP Imran Masood said that we have been stopped at the border by the

administration. Nobody is doing anything. Our demand is that either the police

administration should allow us to move ahead or we should be detained.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, while

targeting Congress and Samajwadi Party, said that whether it is Congress or SP,

those who do politics should be cautious. Those who want to do this will lead

to their political downfall. Now Congress leaders will have to bear the brunt

of this. Just as Akhilesh Yadav is unable to tolerate the defeat of Uttar

Pradesh, similarly Rahul Gandhi is unable to tolerate the defeat of

Maharashtra.
