Nagaon (Assam), 30 December (HS): Vegetables are being sold at the price of water in the Juria wholesale market of Nagaon district.

This time the farmers of Juriaar have produced green vegetables in unprecedented quantity and this is proving to be the beginning of a green revolution.

But this time these crops are not even getting the minimum price, due to which the condition of the farmers has worsened.

Currently, brinjal is being sold at ₹10 per kg, banana at ₹ 12, capsicum at ₹ 15, chilli at ₹ 15, uradhi at ₹ 10, and cauliflower at ₹ 10 per kg, leaving the farmers in a dire situation.

The situation has become even more difficult for farmers who were hoping to recover the money spent on seeds, fertilizers and pesticides used in their fields. Even the transportation cost to send them to the market is not being covered. This falling price of vegetables has disappointed the farmers of Juriar.
