Dhemaji, 26 December (HS): A massive fire broke out in the Jiyadhal forest area of Dhemaji district destroying around 130 hectares of newly planted trees by the forest department. The flames have now spread to 60 hectares of newly planted forest area.

According to the forest department, the cause of the fire is being investigated. Local residents and forest officials are continuously working to control the fire. However, the strong winds and dry weather are making it difficult to contain the blaze. The incident has caused significant damage to wildlife and the environment.
