Kanker/Jagdalpur, 23 December (HS): Senior Naxalite (Maoist) Prabhakar Rao of North Bastar Sub Zonal Bureau of Chhattisgarh was arrested by the police from Antagarh area of ​​Kanker district by blockading the area. A reward of ₹25 lakhs has been announced on the arrested Prabhakar Rao. Dozens of crimes are registered against Prabhakar Rao in many other states including Chhattisgarh state. Further legal action is being taken by continuously interrogating the arrested Naxalite Prabhakar Rao.

On the other hand, the Naxalites put up banners in Antagarh area of ​​Kanker district of Chhattisgarh last Sunday night and alleged that the police have arrested their leader Prabhakar on 19 December 2024, but have not yet made the information about the arrest public. In the Naxalite banners, they demanded that Prabhakar be produced in the court in a safe manner. After this, today on Monday, the police has made public the information about the arrest of senior Maoist cadre Prabhakar Rao.

Bastar IG Sundarraj P. confirmed on Monday that the arrest of Prabhakar Rao alias Balmuri Narayan Rao is an important success for the police force from the point of view of anti-Naxal operation. Prabhakar alias Balmuri Narayan Rao, who has a reward of Rs 25 lakh on his head, had joined the Naxal organization as a party member in 1984 and was working actively for the last 40 years. According to the information of the arrested Naxalite, 57-year-old Prabhakar alias Balmuri Narayan Rao is a resident of village Birpur, district Jagityal, Telangana state. He was a close associate of top Maoist leaders of Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh.

The IG said that Prabhakar Rao alias Balmuri Narayan Rao's wife Raje Kange is in-charge of Raoghat Area Committee. It was told that he has close relations with CCM Secretary of Naxalites Basava Raju, CCM K. Ramachandra Reddy alias Raju, Devji alias Kuma Dada, Kosa, Sonu, Mallaraja Reddy alias Sangram. He is the cousin of CCM Secretary of Naxalites Ganpati. He told that effective action is being taken against Maoists under Bastar division. Till now in the year 2024, a total of 884 Maoist cadres have been arrested and action is being taken against them.
