Kuwait City/New Delhi, 22 December (H.S.): On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history by becoming the first Indian PM in 43 years to visit Kuwait.

He attended the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as the chief guest at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, where he also met with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

PM Modi shared a photo of their meeting on X, expressing his joy at meeting His Highness. The Arabian Gulf Cup, which includes eight teams, kicked off with a match between Kuwait and Oman. Earlier in the day, PM Modi addressed the Indian community at the 'Hala Modi' event in Kuwait City, praising their contribution to global growth. He also shared his vision for India to become the 'skill capital of the world' and recognized the significant Indian presence in Kuwait, referring to it as a 'mini-Hindustan.'

PM Modi is scheduled to meet with the Emir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister of Kuwait on Sunday. He expressed his appreciation for the Indian community's efforts in adding an 'Indian touch' to Kuwaiti society and blending India's talent, technology, and tradition into their daily lives.
