New Delhi, December 21 (HS): The Congress Party has announced to start a nationwide movement demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue of Ambedkar. The main opposition party will celebrate next week as Ambedkar Samman Week.

Congress Party's National Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement here today that our movement demanding the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah will continue. We will fight to protect the legacy of Babasaheb Ambedkar against the worshipers of Manusmriti. The Congress Party will celebrate the coming week as Dr. Ambedkar Samman Week.

He said that all Congress MPs, senior leaders and Congress Working Committee members will hold press conferences in their constituencies and home districts across the country on 22-23 December. On December 24, we will take out Babasaheb Ambedkar Samman March across the country and submit a memorandum to the President through the District Collectors demanding the resignation of Amit Shah. All Congress workers will garland the statue of Babasaheb and take out a march. During the march, they will keep a huge picture of Babasaheb Ambedkar and carry big placards with their main demands.

Congress General Secretary Venugopal said that on December 26-27, we will hold an extended Congress Working Committee session and a mega rally in Belgaum, where we will reiterate our commitment to Dr. Ambedkar and his ideals.

It is noteworthy that during the winter session of Parliament, during the discussion on the golden journey of 75 years of the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Amit Shah had praised the contribution of Babasaheb Ambedkar in his reply. However, calling the 11-second part of his speech controversial, Congress has called that statement an insult to Baba Saheb. Congress is attacking the ruling BJP and Amit Shah on this issue.
