East Burdwan, 18 December (H.S.): The bodies of an old couple named Abhijeet Yash and Chavi Yash were found in Bhatar of East Burdwan district on Tuesday. While investigating the matter, the police have arrested three accused who are the relatives of the deceased. Superintendent of Police Sayak Das said during a press conference on Wednesday that a woman named Suparna Chaudhary came to Bhatar police station in evening and told that they are unable to contact their old aunt and uncle. They live alone. Their names are Abhijeet and Chavi Yash. They are childless. The police immediately reached their house and broke the lock and recovered two bodies.

According to police sources, among the three arrested people, Mahua Samant and her two sons. One is Aniket Samant and the other is Aritra Samant. Mahua is the younger sister of Chavi Yash. The police claimed that they committed this crime due to greed for property. Mahua Samant claimed that earlier there was a dispute with Chavi over property. There was a dispute on the day of the incident as well. They killed the couple when they were not given the money. One of the accused was studying in college. The other is an engineer. All the belongings of the elderly couple are being investigated. The District Superintendent of Police said that the arrested people will be taken to court and police custody will be sought. After that the investigation will proceed.

Abhijeet Yash and Chhabi Yash were residents of Rabindrapalli area of Bhatar police station in East Burdwan.
