Guwahati 7 November (HS): In all the districts of the state, the devotees offered Arghya to the Setting Sun on Thursday on the third day of Chhath Mahaparva and prayed for good fortune. Lakhs of people across the state worshipped Bhagwan Surya on the banks of water bodies. In all the major cities of the state including Guwahati, preparations for Chhath Puja were made on a large scale by the local district administrations. The SDRF team was continuously patrolling the Brahmaputra river. At the same time, the NDRF was also kept ready.

Guidelines have been issued by the traffic police department of all the districts to control the crowd. At the same time, the Chhath Puja organizing committees have arranged for adequate lighting and other cultural programs on the Ghats. Chhath Puja is being organized at most of the small and big water bodies of the state including Brahmaputra.

According to our Kokrajhar correspondent, the devotees stood for a long time in various water bodies of Kokrajhar city and offered Arghya to the Setting Sun. From afternoon onwards, the devotees started gathering at various ghats of the city. Devotees in new clothes were seen reaching the ghat with Dauras filled with fruits and flowers in their hands.

Gaurang Ghat of Kokrajhar district, Shiv Mandir Ghat of Fakiragram and all the Chhath Ghats of the district were decorated grandly. Crowds of devotees were seen especially in Fakiragram and Kokrajhar. The officials and workers of Surya Shashthi Chhath Vrat Samiti were keeping a special eye on the fasting people so that they do not face any kind of problem. The special thing this time was that keeping in mind the corona epidemic, special attention was paid to extreme cleanliness and electricity arrangements.

Kokrajhar Police Administration has made tight security arrangements in view of Chhath Puja in the entire district.
