3-day Bodo meeting held in Kokrajhar


Kokrajhar (Assam), 6 November (HS): A three-day consultation meeting on the vision document titled Envisioning a Prosperous, Happy and Peaceful Future for the Communities of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) has been held from November 4-6, here at the BTCLA Auditorium Hall. This important event proved to be a milestone in the efforts of the BTC aimed at measuring a collective vision of peace, prosperity and unity for all communities.

Participating in the meeting, BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Bodo reiterated the commitment of the BTR government to create a region where peace, happiness and justice are accessible to all. He emphasized the BTC's vision of inclusiveness so that development initiatives are made for the benefit of every community. He also said that the administration of the council will work keeping in mind the local needs and aspirations. BTC Executive Member Dharmanarayan Das also supported this sentiment, stating that BTC is dedicated to peace building and will ensure that the Vision Document reflects the collective aspirations of the people of BTR.

The consultation meeting was inaugurated on November 4 by Khatiram Bodo, President of BTCLA and Chairman of the Vision Document Committee. In his opening address, Chairman Bodo emphasized the importance of envisioning a shared future for BTR. He acknowledged that each community may have different perspectives, but assured the participants that BTC will try to address these within its capabilities. He also informed that BTC will collaborate with the central and state governments for those needs that require external intervention.

Participation in the meeting today on the final day was high and representatives from 31 organizations attended it. BTC Executive Member Wilson Hasda addressed the session and emphasized the importance of the Vision Document process. He said that this document is not just an administrative tool but a symbol of hope and aspiration for the communities of BTR. He urged the participants to stay engaged in the process as their participation will help shape a future where all communities prosper together.

During these three days, representatives from various student organisations and community organisations actively participated in the discussions and shared their visions and priorities. The meetings were chaired by Rintu Chandra Bodo, Joint Secretary, BTC and Member Secretary, Vision Document Committee. The aim of these consultations was to engage community representatives, stakeholders and leaders in a meaningful dialogue on the aspirations and challenges faced by each community in BTR.
