Biswanath (Assam), 6 November (HS): There is gaiety all over the country about the great festival of sun worship and faith, Chhath Puja.
All the ghats of Bishwanath district have been decorated. In the daily market of the district's Sadar Bishwanath Chariali city, the devotees were seen barefoot buying various seasonal fruits, Arghyapat and Dauri-Soup for Chhath. On Wednesday, after the devotees do Kharna with Kheer-Puri and fruits, the 36-hour Nirjala Vrat has been begin. The devotees have completed the preparations to offer Arghya to the setting sun on Thursday.
Along with all the Chhath Puja committees of the district, the decoration and illumination of the Shri Shri Central Chhath Puja Ghat located in Ambadi of Bishwanath Chariali town and the Falafali Bakri of the West Charali Chhath Puja Committee have become the center of attraction.
It is worth mentioning that the grand festival of Chhath, a festival of folk faith, is also being seen in places like Guwahati, Tinsukiya, Gupt Kashi Vishwanath Ghat, Haldiabari, Balichang, Assam-Arunachal border Daflagarh, Helm, Bedeti, Bargang, Monabari, Baghmari, Satia, Itakhola etc. People of the local minority community also kept selling fruits and soup etc. for the puja.
