After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a gain of 0.88 percent and the Nifty with a gain of 0.91 percent. After facing an initial decline today, the domestic stock market made a great recovery with the support of buying in the second session of the day. The most buying was done in the stocks of banking, financial and metal sector. Similarly, automobile, energy, realty, IT, oil and gas, capital goods, consumer durables and healthcare indices also closed with gains.
On the other hand, selling pressure remained in the stocks of tech and FMCG sector. There was continuous buying in the broader market today as well, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.48 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.41 percent.
The BSE Sensex opened with a weakness of 240 points at 78,542 points. As soon as the trading started, the movement of this index declined due to the pressure of selling. Especially after 11 o'clock in the afternoon, due to the increased selling pressure, this index fell by 485 points in a short time to reach today's lowest level of 78,296 points.
After this, the buyers took over, due to which the movement of this index started improving slightly. Around 1 pm, the buyers started flexing aggressively in the market, due to which this index gained tremendous momentum. In the next 2 hours of trading, the index jumped 1,226.43 points from the lower level and reached today's highest level of 79,523 points with a gain of 740 points. However, due to the selling due to intra-day settlement at the last moment, the index slipped slightly below the upper level and closed at 79,476 points with a gain of 694 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today with a decline of 78 points at the level of 23,916 points. This index also declined due to selling pressure in early trade. During the first 2 hours of trading, the index slipped 152 points to reach 23,842 points. But after this, buying started gaining momentum in the market. After 1 pm, buyers put in full force, due to which the index jumped 386 points from the lower level and reached the level of 24,229 points with a gain of 233 points. After the whole day's trading, Nifty closed at the level of 24,213 points with a gain of 217 points.
