Cachar, (Assam), 4 November (HS): Cachar Police arrested a drug peddler with a huge quantity of drugs. Police said on Monday that based on reliable intelligence, Cachar Police launched a special operation against drug transportation in Lailapur of Dholai police station area.
A 1109 truck (AS-28 AC-1449) coming from Aizawl was stopped and a person Abdul Alim (27 years, Baksa) was arrested. During a careful search of the vehicle, the police team recovered 30 soap boxes from his possession, which suspectedly contained 375 grams of heroin and 20,000 Yaba tablets.
The suspected drugs were kept in specially made secret chambers in the vehicle. The cost of the drug in the black market is about seven crore rupees. This consignment of drugs was brought illegally from Aizawl, Mizoram. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
