Golaghat (Assam), 3 November (HS): Heavy tension has been seen over the attempted rape of a teenager in Naharjan tea garden of Bokakhat under Golaghat district. According to the information, a tense situation arose when a 55-year-old man tried to rape the teenager in a tea garden.

Police sources said on Sunday that Manoj Naik (55) of the tea garden tried to rape the teenager. As soon as the information about the incident was received, people expressed great resentment over it. It is said that Manoj Naik lured the teenager and took her to the middle of the tea garden and tried to rape her, meanwhile some local youths caught Manoj red-handed. Later he was beaten up badly.

Manoj Naik was admitted to the tea garden hospital in an unconscious state. Meanwhile, the people of the tea garden gathered in the hospital and started a ruckus again. As soon as the information was received, Bokakhat police and security personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Meanwhile, Manoj Naik has been taken into custody by Bokakhat police and investigation has been started.
