Darang (Assam), 3 November (HS): Bhasha Gaurav Week has started from Sunday in 10 districts of the Assam. Recently, the Central Government has recognized the Assamese language as a classical language, in view of which Bhasha Gaurav Week is being celebrated across the state with the efforts of the state government.
Darang District Sahitya Sabha has honored two distinguished persons on Sunday by giving special honors in view of Gaurav Bhasha Week. The Darang Ratna Award was given to two great men of Darang, Dr. Nagen Sharma and Idris Ali. On this occasion, both have been brought together in a colorful procession. President of Assam Sahitya Sabha Surya Kumar Hazarika was present as the chief guest in the function organized on this occasion.
It is worth noting that the Central Government had given the status of classical language to Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese, and Bengali on October 3 this year. In this way, the number of classical languages in India has now increased to 11. Earlier, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia had been given classical language status.
