New Delhi, November 28 (HS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in coordination with the CBI extradited Salman Rehman Khan, a key fugitive terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), from Rwanda to India on Thursday.
According to the NIA, Salman was detained by the NIA on November 27 with the assistance of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Interpol and NCB and brought to India on Thursday morning. The NIA Special Court in Bengaluru had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him. Salman was caught by the authorities in Kigali, Rwanda after the Interpol red notice.
The NIA investigation had revealed that Salman was previously in jail in the POCSO case (2018-2022). Here, T. Naseer, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in a terror case, inspired him to become radical and join the army. After this, he helped in procuring and distributing explosives to other terrorists. After the terror plot and module was exposed, Salman fled the country.
