Nagaon, (Assam), 24 November (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Samaguri seat, which was held by the Congress for several decades.
BJP candidate Diplu Ranjan Sharma won a decisive victory by defeating Congress' Tanjil Hussain by a margin of 26,200 votes. Tanjil Hussain, son of senior Congress leader and Dhubri MP Rokibul Hussain, was expected to retain his hold on the constituency, but the BJP's skillful strategy and vigorous campaign turned the tables. After the announcement of the election results, Diplu Ranjan Sharma expressed gratitude to the people of Samaguri for reposing faith in him.
Sharma said that this victory belongs to the people of Samaguri. We will work tirelessly to bring development and prosperity to the region. The results of the by-election are expected to have a wide impact on the political landscape of Assam, as the BJP's victory in Samaguri has proved that the minority voters in the state have also started voting for the BJP.
