Bhubaneswar, 21 November (H.S.): Odisha Vigilance has arrested Suresh Kumar Panigrahi, the Civil Supplies Officer (CSO) of Subarnapur, in a case involving disproportionate assets, as announced by the Vigilance department in a press release on Thursday.

A thorough investigation revealed that Panigrahi possessed assets significantly exceeding his known sources of income. These assets include two buildings, a farmhouse on four acres of land with 500 teak trees, and 19 plots of land (three in Bhubaneswar, four in Sambalpur, one in Bolangir, and eleven in Bargarh). Additionally, he has bank deposits exceeding ₹1.72 crore and cash amounting to ₹1.49 lakh. Unable to provide satisfactory explanations for these assets, Panigrahi was arrested and will be presented before the court. A case has been registered at the Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station under Case No. 27/2024, the release added.

It is worth noting that on Wednesday, Odisha Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at 11 locations across Bhubaneswar, Bolangir, Subarnapur, and Bargarh, targeting CSO Suresh Kumar Panigrahi over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.
