New Delhi, 21 November (H.S.): Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday said that India aims to become a constructive global power through peacebuilding, peacekeeping and climate action initiatives.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the participants of the 64th National Defence College (NDC) Course on India's Core Values, Interests and Objectives in New Delhi today. Referring to India's contribution to playing a positive role in the world, the Vice President said that even during the presidency of the G20, India emphasized on human-centric global progress focused on sustainable growth rate and emphasized unity in diversity.
The Vice President also underlined that India wishes happiness for all and considers the world as one family. He said that during the presidency of the G-20, India raised the voice of the 'global south' at the international level. He said that inclusive development, peace and universal welfare while nurturing the environment are at the center of Indian philosophy. Being the world's largest economy, India celebrates its language, religion and racial diversity. Equality and freedom are ensured here. India's foreign policy also emphasizes on respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of other countries and giving priority to dialogue over conflict and competition.
The Vice President said that we are committed to gender equality and it is important for harmony along with the economy and social values. We are going a step further to empower women and are focusing on women-led empowerment. He also mentioned the Women's Reservation Bill recently passed by the Parliament.
