Aizawl, 21 November (HS): Khilli Ram Meena has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Mizoram.

1993 batch IAS officer Meena is an officer of AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre. Before being sent back to his original cadre, Meena was posted as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

After the retirement of Chief Secretary Renu Sharma, the Mizoram government had handed over the interim charge of Chief Secretary to H Lalengmawia, Commissioner Secretary of Higher and Technical Education and Fisheries Department of the state.

It is noteworthy that the Mizoram government had requested the Center to appoint 1992 batch Manipur cadre IAS officer Vumlunmang Vualnam as Chief Secretary.
