New Delhi, 20 November (H.S.):

Trading in the stock market will remain closed on Wednesday due to voting for the assembly elections in Maharashtra. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE have announced that there will be no trading in the equity, futures and options (F&O) and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments during the day.

The Election Commission had announced the dates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections on October 15. The election is being held in a single phase for 288 seats, with 4,136 candidates in the fray. Counting of votes will take place on Saturday, November 23.

The commodity market will also remain closed on Wednesday from 9 am to 5 pm. However, trading will continue on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) in the evening session. It will remain open from 5 pm to 11:55 pm. Trading for some agricultural products will be till 9 pm.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, all banks will remain closed across Maharashtra on November 20. Despite branch closures, digital banking services such as ATMs, Unified Payment Interface (UPI) platform and online banking will remain operational to ensure uninterrupted financial transactions.
