6 Oct (HS): On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that

the sale and consumption of meat and wine will be completely restricted within

the Maha Kumbh Mela region. Adityanath made the statement during a meeting with

representatives from 13 Akharas, including Khak Chowk, Dandi Bara, and Acharya

Bara. According to a news release, the CM stated that the prohibition is

essential given the feelings of the Sanatan society. He stated that while the

government is working to clean up the waterways, the sadhu community's participation

is also requested. Adityanath stated that land would soon be prepared in

Prayagraj for the samadhi of sadhus who will achieve

salvation at the Maha Kumbh.

He

urged that the sadhus not let anyone to reside in their ashrams unless they
