6 Oct (HS): On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that
the sale and consumption of meat and wine will be completely restricted within
the Maha Kumbh Mela region. Adityanath made the statement during a meeting with
representatives from 13 Akharas, including Khak Chowk, Dandi Bara, and Acharya
Bara. According to a news release, the CM stated that the prohibition is
essential given the feelings of the Sanatan society. He stated that while the
government is working to clean up the waterways, the sadhu community's participation
is also requested. Adityanath stated that land would soon be prepared in
Prayagraj for the samadhi of sadhus who will achieve
salvation at the Maha Kumbh.
He
urged that the sadhus not let anyone to reside in their ashrams unless they
were properly confirmed. After landing at Parade's helipad, the CM traveled by
motor boat to Sangam, where he worshiped the Ganga and Yamuna.
