New Delhi, October 30 (HS): A ministerial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Union Rural Development Secretary Shailesh Kumar Singh.
Representatives from seven ministries attended it to discuss cooperation and action plans related to raising awareness against gender-based violence across the country and strengthening the response mechanism. This information was given by a government spokesperson here on Wednesday.
The meeting began with Smriti Sharan, Joint Secretary, Department of Rural Development, presenting the key findings of the previous editions of the Nai Chetna Abhiyan. This month-long 3.0 Nai Chetna Abhiyan will be launched on November 25 and will run till December 23 in all the states and union territories of the country.
During this, Additional Secretary, Rural Development Department, Charanjit Singh appreciated the suggestions received during the meeting and called for formalizing the consultations given to run this campaign in mission mode. In conclusion, Shailesh Kumar Singh emphasized the need for a united and coordinated approach of various ministries to promote comprehensive social change and combat gender-based violence.
The 'Nai Chetna' campaign aims to raise awareness and take informed action to combat gender-based violence through various initiatives at the grassroots level. Since its inception, 'Nai Chetna' has mobilized millions of people across the country, creating a massive movement towards gender equality and women empowerment.
In its first year, the campaign reached out to 3.5 crore people with the support of various ministries while its second edition 'Nai Chetna 2.0' saw participation of 5.5 crore participants from 31 States and Union Territories. It conducted over 9 lakh awareness activities against gender-based violence across the country.
