Goalpara (Assam), 15 October (HS): Police have arrested Abdul Kashem Ali, a youth from Goalpara, for allegedly making obscene video of female devotees attending Durga Puja and making it viral on social media.

Abdul Kashem Ali, a resident of Dubapara Nikhonchar of Mornai police station area, made an obscene video targeting female devotees participating in the Durga Puja in Lower Assam and shared it on social media.

When this video went viral, there was widespread anger among the people. At least three hundred people gathered in front of Mornai police station of the district last night and expressed their anger. They demanded that the accused should be arrested immediately and exemplary punishment should be ensured.

Meanwhile, Assam DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh shared a post on his X handle on Monday night at 11.49 pm, saying that the accused has been arrested by the Goalpara police.

The police appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony and urged citizens to avoid communal tension in the wake of the incident. The police assured the people that the incident will be dealt with strictly so that no one dares to commit such an act in future. The OC of Mornai police station assured that steps will be taken to set an exemplary example in the wake of the incident.
