Karimganj (Assam), 13 October (HS): Badarpur police of Karimganj district conducted a drive based on secret information and arrested four drug peddlers with drugs worth ₹8 crore. Police said on Sunday that during the search of a car coming from Mizoram, 548.82 grams of heroin hidden in 48 plastic soap boxes has been recovered. Four drug peddlers have been arrested in this connection. The arrested peddlers have been identified as Abdul Wasit, Faizul Haque, Tajuddin and Nasimuddin. All the arrested accused are said to be residents of Patharkandi in Karimganj district. All the arrested peddlers were bringing the seized heroin from Mizoram to Karimganj through car. The value of the seized heroin has been estimated to be more than ₹8 crore in the international market. Police have registered an FIR in this regard and are investigating the matter.
