Guwahati, 9 May (HS): Amid the growing tension between India and Pakistan and the backdrop of Operation Sindoor, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to the people of the Assam to cancel Rangali Bihu celebrations from May 10. He has issued this message through social media.

The Chief Minister said that in view of the current national situation, everyone should exercise restraint and postpone social celebrations. He said that this is a time of unity and caution.

It is noteworthy that on Thursday night, Pakistan attacked many parts of Jammu, Punjab and Rajasthan. India thwarted every attack through advanced air defense systems like S-400 and 'Akash' and also carried out drone strikes in Islamabad, Sialkot and Lahore in retaliation.

In view of the tense situation, schools, colleges and universities have been closed in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Leave of government officials has also been canceled.

Due to these circumstances, the IPL match on Thursday - between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals - was stopped midway. Now today an important decision will be taken regarding the remaining IPL matches.
