Lucknow, 23 Sept (HS): The tenth convocation of Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow was held under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandibel Patel. On this occasion, Chairman, Disabled Welfare Trust of India, Padma Shri honored Dr. Kanubhai Taylor was the chief guest and UP Minister of State for Disabled Empowerment and Backward Class Welfare (Independent Charge) Narendra Kashyap participated as the special guest. Addressing the program, Minister Narendra Kashyap first congratulated 1622 students under various faculties for being awarded degrees and 112 meritorious students for being decorated with 142 medals in the academic session 2022-23. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision is that every disabled person should become strong and capable. Divine power resides in disabled people, due to which they are capable of achieving any great success. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, various schemes are being run for the disabled. He said that now there are two universities in the state for the disabled, which are being run by the state government. He said that the disabled people are being provided free education and living facilities in the university. He said that the problems of the disabled people are being solved through mobile court.
Minister Narendra Kashyap said that reading material is being provided to visually impaired children through Braille Press at Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University. Keeping in view the increasing number of girl students in Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow, a new women's hostel is being constructed at a cost of Rs 48 crore. Employment opportunities are being provided to the disabled people through the placement cell of the university. He said that pension is being given to about 10 lakh disabled people. The Minister for Disabled Persons said that under the Marriage Incentive Scheme, an amount of Rs 35 thousand is being provided to the disabled couple under the Marriage Incentive Scheme, in which the obligation of registration for the disabled couple to receive the Marriage Incentive Award has been abolished. All the 16 special schools run by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities have been granted ISO 90012015 certification for the financial year 2022-23 for their high level education and training system along with the high level management system of the campus. Smart classes have been arranged in these schools for quality education. Clothes, fruits and sweets were distributed to 30 visually impaired girls in the tenth convocation ceremony of Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow. Anganwadi kits were distributed to 05 Anganwadi centres. Karan Sharma and Shweta Rajput, residents of village Fatehganj, were honored for their excellent cooperation in the programs conducted in the rural areas of the university, organized under the aegis of the National Service Scheme. After the decoration of the convocation attire, the educational procession started and after the national anthem, the tenth convocation ceremony started with the water filling programme.
