Alwar, May 25 (HS): On Thursday, the court gave its verdict in the infamous Rakbar Khan mob lynching case. Convincing the four accused guilty of this, the court has sentenced seven years' imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000. However, giving the benefit of the doubt to the fifth accused, the court acquitted him.
Special Public Prosecutor Ashok Kumar said that in 2018, Rakbar Khan, a resident of Kolgaon in Lalawandi village of Ramgarh district of Alwar, Rajasthan, was beaten to death on suspicion of cow smuggling. In the episode, the police arrested a local Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Naval Kishore Sharma along with Paramjeet Singh, Dharmendra Yadav, Naresh and Vijay in the case. In the case, the court acquitted Naval Sharma, giving him the benefit of the doubt, while the other four accused were convicted under sections 304A and 341 of the IPC and sentenced to seven years imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 each.
In 2018, Aslam and Rakbar were going to their village in the Bharatpur district with cows. In Alwar, he was allegedly beaten to death by a mob believing him to be a cattle smuggler. However, during this time Aslam somehow escaped after saving his life. Police reached the spot and took the injured Rakbar and the cows to Ramgarh police station. An injured Rakbar was sent to Ramgarh Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
The acquitted Naval Kishore told that he had faith in the judiciary. He said that the other four children are also innocent. He will appeal in the High Court against the sentence awarded to him.
