Indore, 23 March (HS): Renowned and senior journalist of the country and state Padma Shri Abhay Chhajlani passed away on Thursday morning. Senior journalist Abhay Chhajlani was unwell for a long time. He died on Thursday morning during treatment. His last rites will be performed today at 5:00 pm at Panchkuia Muktidham.

Abhay Chhajlani was born on 4 August 1934 in Indore and entered the field of journalism in 1955. In 1965, he graduated from the Thomson Foundation, Cardiff (UK), the world's premier institution of journalism. He prominently raised many major issues in the city. Due to his efforts, the city of Indore achieved significant achievements in many other fields including sports. He himself was involved in sports, especially table tennis. He was the President of the Madhya Pradesh Table Tennis Association for a long time and then held the post of Life President. Chhajlani was the editor-in-chief of Nai Duniya for a long time and under his leadership and guidance the Nai Duniya group made remarkable progress.

The Chhajlani family has suffered another blow. Late Vimal Chhajlani's wife also passed away this morning in Bhopal. His body is being taken to Indore, where he will also be cremated today at 5:00 pm.
