New Delhi, March 21 (HS): Today, on the second trading day of the week, there was a brightness in the domestic stock market. Due to the strong trend of global markets and vigorous buying in banking stocks, the stock markets were able to close with gains today. Selling pressure continued to build up during the day's trading. But the buying momentum was so high that both the Sensex and the Nifty continued to remain in the green. Sensex closed up 0.77 per cent and Nifty up 0.70 per cent after the day's trading.

Today, apart from the banking sector, the stock of the metal energy and infrastructure sector continued to rise during the day's trading. On the other hand, FMCG and IT sector stocks remained under pressure.

Due to the boom in today's business, the wealth of stock market investors increased by about Rs 1.5 lakh crore. The market capitalization of listed companies on BSE rose to Rs 256.91 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trade. While their market capitalization was Rs 255.43 lakh crore on the last trading day on Monday. In this way, the total wealth of investors increased by about Rs 1.48 lakh crore today.

During the day's trading, there was active trading in 3,647 shares on BSE. Of these, 1,998 shares closed with gains. There was a decline in 1,515 shares, while 134 shares closed without any movement. On the other hand, active trading took place in 2,026 shares on the NSE today. Out of these, 1,201 shares closed in the green mark by making a profit and 825 shares closed in the red mark by taking losses. Similarly, out of 30 Sensex stocks, 18 closed with gains and 12 closed with losses. Whereas out of 50 stocks included in Nifty, 26 stocks closed in green mark and 24 stocks closed in red mark.

BSE's Sensex today started trading at a level of 57,963.27 points with a gain of 334.32 points. There was a constant tug of war between buyers and sellers during the day's trading. In the second trading session of the day, the buyers increased the pressure, due to which the Sensex moved higher.

With the support of buying, the index rose by 504.38 points to reach 58,133.33 points shortly before the last minute. Earlier, due to selling pressure, the Sensex had also fallen to 57,730.09 points. After the day's buying and selling, the Sensex closed at a level of 58,074.68 points with a gain of 445.73 points.

Like Sensex, NSE's Nifty also jumped 72 points to start trading at 17,060.40 points. The movement of Nifty also continued to fluctuate between the pull of buyers and sellers. While this index came down to 17,016 points under selling pressure, it jumped up to 139.30 points and reached 17,127.70 points with the support of buying. After a day's buying and selling, the Nifty ended today's trade at 17,107.50 with a gain of 119.10 points.
