To evoke patriotic fervour ahead of Independence Day, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), in association with the Amey Cyclists Foundation, organised a grand Tricolour cycling rally under the Central Government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign 2026. Cycling enthusiasts and citizens participated in large numbers, carrying and displaying the national flag to convey a message of patriotism and national unity.
The rally was flagged off from the Thane Municipal Corporation headquarters by Mayor Sharmila Pimpolkar. Deputy Mayor Krishna Patil, House Leader Hanmant Jagdale, Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode, Deputy Commissioners Deepak Jinjad and Meenal Palande, Amey Cyclists Foundation President Pragya Mhatre, along with civic officials, employees, cycling enthusiasts and residents, were present in large numbers.
The participating cyclists proudly displayed the Tricolour on their bicycles and carried national flags in their hands as they rode through the city. Along with spreading the message of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’, the rally sought to strengthen the spirit of patriotism, unity and civic responsibility among citizens.
The cycling rally began at the Thane Municipal Corporation headquarters and passed through major routes, including Aradhana Cinema, Gajanan Maharaj Math Road, P. N. Ram Ganesh Gadkari Road and Talav Pali, before concluding at Rangayatam. Cyclists carrying the Tricolour attracted considerable attention from residents along the route.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative is aimed not only at encouraging citizens to display the national flag at their homes but also at strengthening the spirit of patriotism and national pride among people. In keeping with this objective, the Tricolour cycling rally conveyed messages of national unity as well as environmentally responsible living.
The rally also sought to promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transport, encourage healthier lifestyles, raise awareness about environmental conservation and inspire greater public participation in national celebrations.
The event created a strong patriotic atmosphere across Thane. Officials and volunteers of the Thane Municipal Corporation and the cyclists’ foundation worked extensively to ensure the successful organisation of the rally.
