Imphal, 09 August (HS): Manipur Police and security forces conducted multiple operations in Imphal East and Imphal West districts on Sunday, leading to the detention of three persons for alleged illegal transportation of local liquor and the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives.

During frisking and checking at Langdum Lamkhai under Irilbung Police Station, the CDO/Imphal East detained three persons allegedly involved in the illegal transportation and supply of local liquor. They were identified as Yumkhaibam Jeenan Singh alias Mekola (28), Yumkhaibam Sunil Singh alias Naotomba (23) and Chingakham Romeo Singh (23). Security personnel seized 810 litres of local liquor along with three cars from their possession.

In another operation on August 9, a joint team of Imphal West Commando, Patsoi Police Station and a column of 33 Assam Rifles conducted a search operation at Khoirum Sabal under Patsoi Police Station. The operation resulted in the recovery of eight SBBL guns, one 9mm pistol with magazine, one anti-riot gun, three No. 36 HE grenades without detonators and one WP grenade.

The team also recovered six empty magazines of different weapons, including SLR, INSAS and .303, along with 86 assorted rounds of ammunition, six anti-riot shells, one vehicular set and two handheld communication sets.

Meanwhile, during a separate search operation conducted at the foothills of Potshangbam Khunou under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district, Manipur Police recovered one .32 pistol with magazine, one locally made barrel gun and 20 No. 36 hand grenades.

Further investigation into the recoveries and the involvement of the detained persons is underway.----------
