New Delhi, 09 August (H.S.): The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) organised Raahgiri Day on Sunday at DLF Midtown Plaza, Shivaji Maharaj Marg, Karam Pura Industrial Area in Moti Nagar, with the objective of raising public awareness about road safety, cleanliness and waste segregation.

The event was organised under the leadership of Central Zone (Karol Bagh) Deputy Commissioner Dilkhush Meena, in collaboration with the Raahgiri Foundation and the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). More than 300 citizens, including around 100–150 school students, participated enthusiastically in the programme.

A range of activities, including cycling, fitness sessions, interactive games and awareness programmes, were organised to encourage active participation from residents and students.

Special emphasis was placed on creating awareness about road safety, cleanliness, waste segregation and responsible waste management. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, citizens were encouraged to segregate waste at source and contribute to keeping public spaces clean.

The MCD particularly highlighted the message, “Do not rush to dump waste; segregate your waste.” Residents were urged to segregate their waste properly and make responsible waste disposal a regular part of their daily routine.

The event also underscored the importance of active citizen participation in keeping the city clean and safe. Through the programme, young people and students, in particular, were encouraged to contribute towards building cleaner streets, cleaner air and a cleaner, healthier Delhi.
