Sonitpur (Assam), 09 August (HS): A ‘Jail Bharo’ protest has been planned in Tezpur, the headquarters of Assam’s Sonitpur district, on August 10 against what organisers have described as the alleged anti-worker and anti-farmer policies of the BJP-led Central government.

The protest is being organised as part of a nationwide call issued by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Kisan Sabha and Kisan Mazdoor organisations to hold ‘Jail Bharo’ programmes across the country.

The Tezpur programme will be held alongside similar protests in other parts of the country. CITU leaders have appealed to workers, farmers and students from different parts of Sonitpur district to participate in the agitation.

The local CITU unit confirmed the planned programme and urged people to join the protest in large numbers.---------
